This is an extroidinary antique Christening Silk Set Circa 1890 in such good clean wearable condition !

This most lovely Christening set consisting of a cream silk  embroidered cape having a 3 tiered attached cape collar. Decorated with scalloped glistening silk embroidery and 3 rows of tiny pintucked frilled flounces along the edge and the bottom . This tiered top section comes down to 19" with the entire length being 36". 2 original silk ribbon ties act as closures to the front. In most excellent condition this piece has an inner silk lining .

To make it more magnificent is the pretty cream silk Christening Gown decorated with rows of pintucks , lace insertions, handstitched herringbone embroidery lace flounce to the hemline. The sweetest delicate butterfly embroidery to the bodice is surrounded by lace ruching that continues to the back. Pintucked back closes with 2 pearl buttons. Lace and silk streamers with an enchanting rosette accent the front. The neckline being trimmed with  a Valencienne lace , edge of the short sleeves are trimmed with silk ribbon threaded through decorative eyelet work and fine border of the lace. This fantastic gown is in good clean wearable condition with only the normal expected small pinholes that are difficult to find lost in the fullness of the skirt.         Chest : 18"   Length : 39"

To top this set naturally is this exquisite looking finely ribbed silk Christening Bonnet embellished with cream silk appliques on a floral theme. Exquisitely trimmed at the face opening with a wide band of ruched silk , 3 layers of gathered lacework interspersed with silk ribbons. Lacey rosette at each side with satiny ribbon ties this beauty !  Lined in silk is in fine condition.

Measures : Outside edge from cheek to cheek 13 1/2"   and neck edge approx. 10 1/2"     with the model's head circumference : 17  5/8"
