This is a most ornate Irish handcrafted three types of crochet Christening blanket from the Victorian era. Finely done in an old clasic pattern of Hobnail or also known as Candlewick. This intricate needlework produces a 3 dimensional effect.

Lovely blanket measures 27" by 27" with a lacey scalloped border. Three rows of silky satin vintage ribbons are beaded through and around the entire blanket ending at the top into small bows on each side.

The top is embellished with 1 3/4" wide  Irish rose lace ribbon in the bridal design; accented with four Victorian raised flower crochet appliques 1 3/8" by 2" having interesting fillings in the petals !

VICTORIAN IRISH CROCHET LACES LOVELY CHRISTENING GOWN

This most lovely creation all entirely handworked on the finest soft sheer white lawn is amazing to behold . In excellent sturdy, clean condition is ready for Baby's special day !

Bottom is decorated with a panel 1 1/2" of Irish hand crochet lace followed by hand stitched pintucks , French knots ending at the hemline with an exquisite 2 1/4"of deep scalloped lace of shamrocks and tiered rose petals with picoted brides decoration associated with the finest quality Irish crochet lace. This deep panel of decoration surrounds the whole circumference of the skirt and measures approximately 6" in depth. Right above this is another delightful accent of Irish lace in the form of a raised rose applique with filled petals ending in vintage silk ribbon streamers. The same design continues in the back of this sweetest gown !

Rows of vertical pintucks, French knots , hand lacework with silk ribbon adorn the high waisted bodice front. Tiny pearl button closes the back with 2 drawstring ribbons that can adjust the size .
